It's 2013. It's spring. It's time once again to determine South Mountain club supremacy.
My weather forecasts proved to be optimistic, as we did indeed encounter rain. For 3-4 minutes, really HARD rain, and accompanying strong wind gusts. However, there was no lightning, and we're not afraid to get our bikes wet. Well, at least 12 of us aren't.
Actually, it was archetypal summer thundershower band (without the thunder). We started riding in calm, warm weather. A few sprinkles turned to rain which turned to hard rain with wind gusts and a drop in temperature which quickly gave way to a gentle rain that in 15 minutes or so was spent and then, glory be, the sun began to pop out again and the temperature rise. Of course, all of it may have seemed a bit abbreviated for me, as I was traveling east to west through the duration.
Anyway, to learn more about the SMSS, see the SU Cycling Club website. Strava segment for yesterday's ride here. Results below.

AVC takes the early lead in a squeaker over South Mountain Velo. Shaping up to be an exciting battle between those two!
Unfortunately, with the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference championship event this weekend, many of the SU students were absent. I'm assured they would have been out in force otherwise.
I don't know what RHR's excuse is (I'm looking at you, Jon, Micah).
