ECCC race wkd #3: The Philly Phlyer

Some pretty exciting racing over the weekend, made no less so by the Milan-San Remo-like conditions that prevailed on Saturday.  The day started off nice enough for the TTTs, then began to get nasty with some big snowflakes, then the snow tapered off and it looked like things would be dry for the afternoon, when the snow/sleet/hail began in earnest again.  The men's B race finished in miserable conditions.  The men's A field decided a lap and a half in that the conditions were not ride-able and the riders neutralized themselves and called it quits.

Ten SU riders went to contest the races in Philly.  Nine saw action in the team time trial and circuit races on Saturday, one more joined the crew on for the criteriums on Sunday.

A great weekend result for Jeremy White in Men's C field, nudging out NYU for second place by winning the sprint behind a lone lead rider from Penn State.  Jeremy sits fourth overall in men's C, division II; sixth overall.

After missing his start Saturday and having to chase the whole race (to still finish 29th of 70), Kyle Irwin was anxious to redeem himself Sunday and was an instigator from the beginning.  He placed 2nd and 3rd in the two mid-race sprints and ultimately finished a respectable 5th.

Philly also marked a return to racing for Erik D., who rounded out the men's intro podium with a third place on Sunday.

All the results can be found here.

After three road weekends, Ship Cycling has put 11 unique riders to the line, accounting for a total of 45 rider entries on the season.
